ASTM/EN Standard Harmonization by IAAPA

IAAPA launched an effort to harmonize the content of the current suit of ASTM F24 standards with the content of EN13814 parts 1, 2 and 3. This is a multi-year undertake involving experts from both standardization committees. In a first phase, the discrepancies and gaps had been analyzed and prioritized. In 2022 nine different task groups were formed to resolve these gaps and contradictions. A steering committee is supervising their work. Suggested changes from these nine task groups will then be implemented in the according committees. At ASTM this is a fairly easy effort given consensus from the voting members. At EN it is a bit more strict and formal due to fix update cycles. A next cycle is scheduled for 2024. All harmonized content ready by the end of 2023 can then be voted into the new revised 2024 edition of the EN standard.
