Safety Function Documentation – Performance Level Calculation Update

Following our earlier announcement, we are pleased to share an update on the integration of the Performance Level (PL) calculation according to ISO 13849-1:2023 within the ADVANTIS platform.

The new PL calculation module is now fully integrated into ADVANTIS and has entered the testing phase. This represents a major step toward a seamless, end-to-end safety function documentation workflow—eliminating the need for third-party calculation tools.

The first image illustrates the integrated subsystem configuration and category evaluation directly within ADVANTIS. Users can define the subsystem architecture, assign the applicable ISO 13849 category, and transparently document safety principles such as fault tolerance, fault detection, and redundancy—all within the same environment used for system design and documentation.

The second image shows the automatically generated calculation results at the safety function and subsystem level. Key parameters such as Performance Level (PL), Category, PFHd, MTTFd, Diagnostic Coverage (DC), and Common Cause Failure (CCF) are clearly presented, providing full traceability from individual components up to the overall safety function.

To ensure the highest level of confidence and standards compliance, the integrated PL calculation is currently undergoing independent assessment by TÜV SÜD. Upon completion of this assessment, ADVANTIS users will be able to rely on validated, ISO-compliant PL results directly within the platform.

We look forward to sharing final release details in an upcoming update.
